科学其实并不枯燥乏味,或许只是你方法没用对亦或是你不够坚持不足以尝到它的乐趣。今天和大家分享这篇文章 Science is fun 理科很有趣 出自石室剑桥高中理科带头人Mr.Babis之手,让他来讲讲理科的有趣之处,为还不知理科有趣之味的小伙伴指点迷津。

SCIENCE IS FUN

We often hear from parents and students that science is boring, dull, and uninteresting.
我们经常听父母和同学说理科是无聊而乏味的。
Many of us have had experiences in school perhaps even falling asleep as a teacher or professor presents what could be interesting information in the most tedious and dull way possible.
很多同学在学校里或许都曾有过这样的经历,不得不坐在教室里,却因为老师或教授用枯燥乏味的方法讲评原本很有趣的知识而昏昏欲睡。
We sit through the class because we have to, but as soon as the semester is over, we may toss the books and never think about the class again.
一旦学期结束,我们便可能扔掉书本,再也不会想起那堂课的知识了。

It’s no secret that the best way to learn something new is to learn it in a way that is engaging, interesting, and even fun. The best teachers know how to make any subject “fun.”
众所周知,兴趣是学习新事物最好的途径。优秀的老师知道如何让任何学科都变得“有趣”。
They also know that the more a student learns the more “fun” it is and the more the student will have “fun” learning the subject on their own. And this is the key to making any subject and especially science, more fun to learn – simply learning more.
他们也知道学生学到的越多,对这门学科产生的兴趣就会越大。对学习越有兴趣,就会学得越轻松。这是学习任何学科的关键,尤其是理科。

Sometimes it’s challenging to learn something new. It can be difficult to learn how to play the piano or ride a bike because it’s all brand new, and it’s easy to give up before it starts to feel like fun. However, we all know that if we can get someone to stick with learning something new long enough, they will eventually enjoy it.
有时候,学习一些新的东西很有挑战性。比如说,学习弹钢琴或骑自行车可能很难,因为这些对于一个初学者来说都是全新的,而在对其产生兴趣之前也很容易选择放弃。然而我们都知道,如果我们能让某个人坚持足够长的时间学习某样新事物,最终他会对其产生兴趣。
They have to get past the first learning bump. And this is true with academic subjects such as math, history, or science. The more someone learns about these subjects the more fun they have learning.
所以学习者必须克服这第一道难关。这道理在数学、历史或是理科学科中也是相通的。学到的越多,学习的乐趣就越大。

And this is what makes real science fun. A colourful, engaging text helps a child get started, but learning the real terms and concepts and learning how to do real experiments are what makes science fun. Knowing how real science works opens a whole new world of discovery that is fun for anyone, and especially kids, to explore.
这就是理科真正的乐趣所在。丰富多彩,引人入胜的文字可以帮助孩子启蒙,但是学习真正的术语和概念以及学习如何做的实验才是科学真正的乐趣。了解真实的科学成果相当于打开一个全新的世界,去发现去探索,这对任何人来说都很有趣,尤其是儿童。
Science is made to help people answer questions of the daily life: about the weather, the sky, about nature and phenomena that scared them before, like earthquakes and tsunami, about the reproduction of species but also about what is better to eat and stay healthier.
科学帮助人们解答日常生活中的问题:关于天气,天空,关于从前令人害怕的自然现象,比如地震和海啸,关于物种的繁殖,还有关于哪种食物食之更有益健康。

I am really proud to be Head of Science Department in our School. A school where almost all of our students, study science subjects and not a few of them choose it also for post-graduate studies.
我十分自豪能够成为我们学校的理科带头人。我们学校几乎所有学生都学习理科,还有一些学生在攻读研究生时也会选择理科。
I am sure that the strong team of the subject experts who participate in our team are able to inspire our learners and lead them to a deep understanding and a lifelong knowledge.
我相信,我们团队中强大的学科专家团队能够激励我们的学生,引导他们进行深入理解并将其转化为受用终身的知识。

We are planning for this year to make science funnier and more challenging by organizing a science fair, where all the students will use their imagination and creativity to solve problems, to make decisions, to answer daily questions, to make science part of their lives.
我们计划今年举办科学博览会,让科学变得更有趣,更具挑战性。届时,所有的学生将利用他们的想象力和创造力制定决策,解决难题和日常疑问,让科学成为他们生活的一部分。
As Albert Einstein said “Imagination is more important than knowledge ! ” .
正如阿尔伯特·爱因斯坦所说:“想象力比知识更重要!”。
